Water Damage Questions and Answers
Here are the questions Farmers Branch callers ask us most. Don't see yours? (214) 836-4927.
Emergencies
01What should I do first when I find water?
Shut off the main water valve, turn off power to wet rooms if it's safe, and take photos. Then reach us.
02Is it safe to stay in my home?
Usually, yes, for clean water in one area. Leave the area if water is near outlets, the ceiling is sagging, or the water is sewage.
03Do you come out at night and on weekends?
Yes. We are available 24/7, including holidays.
04Where is my main water shutoff?
In most Farmers Branch homes it sits near the front foundation, in a garage, or at the meter box near the street.
Drying and Repairs
01How long will drying take?
Most jobs take 3 to 5 days. Dense materials like hardwood and plaster can take longer.
02Will you need to cut into my walls?
Only if moisture is trapped where air can't reach it. Often we can dry walls in place with small holes behind the baseboard instead of large cuts.
03Can my carpet be saved?
Clean water carpet can often be dried and saved if we act fast. Pad is usually replaced. Carpet soaked with sewage is removed.
04Why is the equipment so loud?
Air movers and dehumidifiers run all day and night to pull water out of materials. The noise stops once readings show everything is dry.
Cost and Insurance
01How much does water damage restoration cost?
It depends on size, water type, and materials. Our cost guide has details.
02Will insurance cover my damage?
Sudden damage is often covered. Slow leaks and outside floods often are not. See our insurance guide.
03Can you work with my insurance adjuster?
Yes. We share photos, moisture readings, and drying logs, and can meet the adjuster on site.
Mold and Health
01How fast can mold grow after a leak?
Mold can start growing within 24 to 48 hours on wet materials.
02What does a musty smell mean?
It often means hidden moisture or mold behind walls, under floors, or in the attic. Have it checked.
03Is gray or black water dangerous?
It can be. Gray water may contain soap and bacteria. Black water, like sewage, carries germs that can make people sick. Avoid contact and let a trained crew handle it.
Water still spreading?
Every hour counts. A crew will be on the way to your Farmers Branch property.
